    1. Is this area always black for 64-67? Or body color?
    2. If not when does it differ? Karmann vs Porsche, different over the years?

BTW what color is the gas flap supposed to be?

    Thanks

Karmann built cars had the area inside the fender hand painted black. The underside of the lid however was finished in the body color. The soft protective flap came in a variety of colors.

    Tanks.

I hope more chime in to make sure only Karmann build cars had black inside during the 64-67 years. I personally like it better and it’s more consistent w under the grill, door edges inside and other locations that they did the extra effort of adding black.

I don’t have conflicting information, it’s just something that caught my eye while checking something else.

Were the cars painted w the receiver installed, I other words the cotter pin would be covered w body color as well?
