    Seat release

Got my seats back from the upholsterer. Reinstalled the hinges and am now having a problem with the driver side seat back. It will somewhat lock in place, but when i put some weight into the seat back it "skips a tooth"
. The release lever is firmly down. I looked at the mechanism but i am not getting why it will not lock... any ideas please?

Comfort seats? If so this is a fairly common issue documented here and on other forums. I’m away from my computer at the moment but if you do some googling you will turn up some discussion and possible solutions.

    Hallo,

the problem might be the connecting rod between the two hinges. This rod is not only the connecting part but also a stabilizer for the recliner mechanism. It has to be mounted in a straight line, without too much clearence between the two recliners. Otherwise the guidance of the locking part inside the recliner is not or less given.

Hope to have been of assictance

Is it just a one tooth skip and then stays in place? Does your mechanism has a roll pin to prevent the lever from moving length wise and applying less pressure. Some early hinges do not have that roll pin, in my 65/66 i did not have one, I drilled and installed one which solved the problem.
