    captive nuts for door pockets?

hey folks, I was wondering if anyone might have a part number for the captive nuts that are used to secure the lower edge of the door pocket to the door (circled in red in the picture). as you can see in the picture, my car used to have these, but they've gone missing after the car was painted :-(

it almost looks like the part should be a flat plate with threaded holes, but I wasn't able to find a separate listing in the parts catalog unfortunately. thanks for your help!

These captive nut sets are spot welded to the door frame...very, very confident (which your research confirms) they are not a separate part that can be ordered from PORSCHE. I will follow up with a photo of what I used...believe I purchased them from McMaster-Carr..drilled the old ones out and spot welded these in where needed.

thanks, mac! I'll look into the options from mcmaster-carr (https://www.mcmaster.com/cage-nuts/). I guess a rivnut might also work--my car is a hot rod, and the door panels are "RS" style, not original.

A riv-nut may work, but might not be ideal. The original captive nuts float a bit to allow some tolerance for inconsistencies in the paperboard door pockets. Fixed position riv-nuts might be difficult to get everything lined up.

They should be on the INSIDE of the door where you have circled. The 'rectangular' marks you equate to a 'plate' are from the plastic door pocket hinges. That's where they mount. I'd be surprised if the captive nuts are actually missing. Usually when installing RS panels, a couple of the lower existing captive nut locations are selected for attachment.

Curious to know - if you are doing RS style panels (assume without the original door pockets), why are you concerned about these captive nuts?

+1 With a rivnut you'll lose the ability to align the door pocket with the bottom edge of the armrest.

    Riv-nuts that 'float' are available.
Maybe not that small. But we use them in aviation industry.

only because the panels came with instructions saying they should mount with machine screws (that go into those captive nuts). but I should also be able to switch to a self-tapping screw for mounting (which, as I understand, is more like the real RS panel anyway).
