Protect Headlight Switch & Dashboard Circuit

I'm not sure that everyone knows that the supply lead for the dashboard illumination is not fused - which could be expensive. A short in a brass bulb holder can lead to damage in wire harness, including the expensive headlight switch. It's an easy thing to remedy. Place an inline fuse at the headlight switch in between terminal 58A and the black blue wire (except '69-'70 which are black-purple).

You can do it yourself or buy this inexpensive piece by Kroon at the AC Shop with correct factory wiring):

    for $18.50.

Cheap insurance to protect the headlight switch.

    Cheers,
    John

This reminds me of the incident I had in my 914 about 40 years ago. At the tail end of a 3 hour trip in the car on some of the major highways through Toronto ON, I finally needed to use my high beam lights. Upon flicking the switch I had smoke pouring out of the dash, so I pulled over and shut the car down. Panic over, I walked the final block home. Thank goodness that I was on a very quiet residential street, and could pull the manoeuvre without a hassle. I replaced the burned length of wire with a fused section.

John, most folks would at least ask before taking someone else's photo and using it on their commercial website, but...

Sorry, I've removed it. Bad etiquette on my part.
