HELP...Best way to ship a large package from the US to Australia? Any suggestions?

I have a package that weighs 60 pounds and is 30 x 27 x 36. The charge to ship to Australia is over $3000?!!! Any suggestions?

I'm thinking someone here has experienced this situation.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Robert

It will be cheaper if they arrange freight from Australia. Get the purchaser to use Interparcel, they are a freight broker and offer various freight options. All online and very reliable, I use them regularly.

I ship almost an identical package, roughly same weight and dims, to Australia about once a month. Shipped one last Friday (63 lbs) it was $438 Fedex International Economy (on our account). It delivers next Tuesday.

Note that $438 number is without duties. Does your package have a really high declared value (like $10k)? That would certainly drive up the cost, for both duties and insurance. Those fees will also depend a lot of what codes are being used for the contents.

That's cheap. USPS have suspended their service to Australia so maybe some of the main players are taking advantage of the situation.

on the other forum I was told that these two sites are good as well. I priced them out and it was just under $400. It would be good to have a thread for things like this.

    www.xsbaggage.com.

    www.myus.com

Thank you for your suggestions and help. I really appreciate it!

Like cwrm4, I have packages shipped to New Zealand via Fedex. Last week’s package weighed 78 lbs, delivered in 5 days from LA, US$300.
