    Blaupunkt Frankfurt - looking to identify

    I would appreciate some information on this radio - what year is it, and were all Frankfurt radios 'stereo', or could they have been mono as well. Thank you.

    The model 7639670 is a mono Frankfurt. The A prefix to the serial number is '69-70, I believe. (Others will know more on that.) I have a B prefix 7639670 in my early '72.

    Arne - thank you for the prompt and helpful reply. I was going to make an offer on the radio, but not now in learning it is a mono unit. And yes, the 69-70 timeframe would be consistent with the car it is presently in.

    To be correct you need a prefix "C" Blaupunkt Frankfurt for your early '72

    Yes, that would be true, if I were at all concerned with "date correct-ness". But I'm not. Don't tell anyone, but my Fuchs are a few months to late for my car also! Oh, the humanity!

    I don't think any stereo Frankfurt is correct for a '72. As far as I am aware, the factory only installed mono. (Dealer installed was different story.)

    The prefix letters were one per year.

    A = 69-70
    B = 70-71
    C = 71-72
    D = 72-73
    E = 73-74
    F = 74-75
    G = 75-76

    I'm pretty sure I had a G prefix in my 914...
