    BaT Description:

This 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera spent time in Texas and New Mexico before it was acquired by the owner in 2018 and subsequently dismantled and backdated into a 911 ST tribute. During the build, the body was stripped to metal and fitted with early-style bumpers, a long-hood fender modification, steel ST fender flare extensions, and refinished in Olive. The interior was also backdated and reportedly trimmed in Haargarn carpet with a replacement dashboard as well as black leather ST-style seats with corduroy inserts and a Griffiths air conditioning system. Power is provided by an overhauled 3.2-liter flat-six mated to a 915 five-speed manual transaxle, and additional modifications are said to include an M&K stainless exhaust system, 15″ Minilite-style wheels, an Elephant Racing Von Shocks coilover suspension, and a 930 brake system. This modified 911 is now offered on behalf of the owner with build photos, the stock exhaust system and catalytic converter, a Carfax report, and a clean California title.

During the build, the car was backdated to early-style bodywork using a modified steel long hood and fenders, a fiberglass front bumper and rear bumper corners, a steel license plate panel, bumperettes, early-style turn signal boxes, a polished rear grille, and steel ST fender flares. The car was refinished in Olive, after which replacement window and door rubber, felts, and seals are said to have been installed. The Carfax report shows ‘minor damage’ occurring in 1999 and 2001 during its time in New Mexico. Additional photos of the exterior and trim are included in the photo gallery,

Silver-finished 15” Minilite-style wheels wear staggered-width Michelin TB15 tires, and braking is handled by retrofitted 930 calipers and rotors. Suspension modifications are said to include Smart Racing sway bars, Elephant Racing Von Shocks coilovers, RSR front strut housings, and RSR rear gussets.

The cabin features black leather ST-style seats with corduroy inserts along with matching leather interior panels, Haargarn carpeting, and a replacement dashboard. A Griffiths replacement air conditioning system has been installed including a new evaporator, dual condensers, and barrier lines.

A leather-wrapped MOMO Prototipo steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation refurbished with silver-dot centers and early-style pointers. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 1,800 miles, all of which have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 3.2-liter flat-six is said to have been rebuilt by Black Forest Automotive of San Diego, California, and modified with 10:1 compression JE pistons, Webcam 20/21 camshafts, ARP rod bolts, and refurbished heads with Supertec rocker arms. The cooling tin was powdercoated and the engine hardware was re-plated, the fuel injectors were cleaned, and the chassis fuel lines were replaced. An M&K 70mm stainless-steel exhaust was fitted along with SSI heat exchangers, an Elephant Racing crossover pipe, and high-clearance oil lines. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed Type 915 manual transaxle and a replacement transmission shaft seal, and a factory ZF limited-slip differential. An oil change was performed in August 2021.

The Carfax report shows history in Texas, New Mexico, and California along with the aforementioned 1999 and 2001 accidents. The car will not pass a California smog test with the current exhaust installed.
