    info needed on Marchall 670/680

I have a pair of Marchal lights in my private collection
    670/680

They have original red glass lenses, never seen these before and I'm curious for what purpose they are

    Any help much appreciated

Sounds like a rear fog light.

Karlusmagnus is correct, it is a rear facing warning light for foggy days. Cibie, Hella, Bosch and Marchal all made red lights to mount on the rear of cars. Marchal 670 lights were introduced in 1957 and made until 1968. 670 680 indicates early 1960s. 670 680 690 would be mid to late sixties.
Equipped with a 35 or 45 watt bulb, this is an auxiliary tail light. Much brighter than a tail light. Today such high intensity rear red lights are a built in feature to many European cars. I have one on my early Beetle to act as a third brake light, wired to come on with brake lights.
    Great light, rare.
