Small smoke after idling in garage

I have my 73 in the garage. With a 3.2 from a mid 80s donor. Interior is out. Getting seats rebuilt. I've been starting it every 3-4 weeks. Let the car idle for about 5 min. Last time I saw a small amount of smoke rising from the fan/shroud after I shut it down. Engine was hot from idling, but not registering anything noteworthy on the temp gauge. Is it odd for external smoke in a scenario like this?

I can't speak to the smoke without knowing more, but I'd strongly recommend against your regimen of starting, idling for 5 or so minutes and then shutting it off. All you are doing is creating moisture/water in the crankcase and it is not getting hot enough - or long enough - to remove it. Much better regimen is to leave it unstarted until you can drive the car for a minimum of 25 minutes or so at full operating temperature.

Mac is spot on , what you are doing is worse than not starting at all . Condensation collects in the oil tank as well and creates rust .

Good to know. Thank you for the input!
