I to am an old man but prefer to say "vintage", I like to live in what I call a black and white world. I find comfort surrounding myself by the things I like, like vintage cameras, watches, audio gear etc... even find some vintage women attractive :O

As for burning fossil fuel I do my part driving my vintage VW TDI : )

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.

Hydrophobia is real!! But no worries, all cars are eventually cooled by air

Just because a water pumper driver is a R-Gruppe member I donÂ’t think it gives him a right to park on the main Street.

    Someone put end to this!

If you want to “show off” your water pumper take to a PCA event!

I hope and pray that you aren't permanently scarred by your horribly traumatic experience. I feel your pain.
    A bit of history.....
Up until recently I had a self appointed Parking Nat^*, I meant to say Parking Person. He was very good at keeping the coveted parking spots on Harlan St for card carrying members of the RGruppe and Early911SRegistry. He has been lax in his duties for quite some time due to work obligations. Nobody has stepped up to take his place as it is kind of a thankless job. Telling some young, brilliant, Tech person that he can't park, his paint to sample, 2022 GT3 on Harlan St is not usually met with enthusiasm, even though it comes with a free doughnut and fresh ground, fresh brewed Peet's Coffee.
The best way to beat them at their own game is to get up at 0 dark thirty, drive to EASY and park before they get here.
Truth be told, things have changed. We are in close proximity to Berkeley, so we are very aware of the plight of underserved (doughnuts, I mean) members of our Porsche universe. Waterpumper drivers belong to that unfortunate group.
I have mellowed, along with most of the old timers, some of which have been arriving early on Harlan St on the first Saturday of the month for 40 plus years just to get first pick of the doughnuts. Things just can't remain the same for ever.
I do hope to see you on Saturday and will make sure that you get your favorite doughnut, even if I have to hide it from those young, whippersnapper, waterpumper drivers.
Saturday is supposed to be a nice day so you will need to be here early.

    Warmest Regards

    Jim

    Thumbs up

    Well said Jim ...

    It is what it is...

I've been a PCA DE day participant and instructor forever, and this has hit home for about the last 5 years....

An entire 75 car DE pit lane that you can count all the air-cools on two hands, and me and my Early longhood friends on less than one...

You lean in and keep participating ....

I'll keep trying to keep the guys in newer cars behind me until I can't... then I'll drop to the next slower group and carry on...

    ... and so it goes

My son will probably arrive in his waterpumper. I must have failed as a parent. At least he has the sense to park it on a side street.

sounds like the enthusiasm and participation is healthy! I am out east so I have never been to EASY but like to read about it and see the pictures. You would have to think that the air cooled crowd is getting smaller due to age or whatever but....the prices of the air cooled cars are insane right now which made me adjust my agreed upon value with my insurance company.
