Thread: New Solex 40PI float

Hi Jesse, Thank you for looking into re manufacturing the Solex Floats - they look very good, I need a pair.
Please let me know when they’ll be ready. Do you know how much they weigh? The ones in my car weigh 16 grams and 7 grams…!
    Thanks Bill

    Hi Bill,

Thanks for your reply! The weight is a bit of a discussion. I took three measurements of original floats:

    • 7.24 gram
    • 7.28 gram
    • 7.35 gram

My new floats are 8.00 gram. You can carefully sand a bit material off if you want to have 7.xx grams. If the experts could weigh in that would be great ;-)

These look great! When I weighed a handful of original brown floats they were 9 grams +/- 0.25. We reproduced some in nylon at 9 grams and they worked perfectly so I would assume these will work just fine at 8 grams.

    Hi all,

Gregg asked me to test the new float in fuel, so see if it doesn’t absorb fuel and would become more heavy.
After a week in fuel, the float stayed the same weight:

After more time swimming in fuel, the weight of the float stays the same:

No news as of yet, they estimate end of March. First batch already sold out based on interest.
