    356 info

    Hi guys,

I know it's not an early 911s but hope to get some info on a 356 I can buy. The owner passed so there is no history.
It is a 1956 356A with chassis 55775 and I would like to know if it originally was a 1300, 1300S, 1600 or 1600S and what the original body and interior colour was.
The engine now is a 912 coupe engine number 743914.
The car is full of polyester: wheel arches, engine compartment, even the underside of the hood, so I think it must have serious rust issues.

    Regards,

    Nico

No way to tell without the Kardex. The 56's came with, technically, five different engines. Ranging from 1300 cc, 1500 cc and 1600. Normal and S's. The 1500's were four cam engines. If it was a four cam you's see some extra plumbing for the front oil coolers.

If you want to email me some pics I can help with a valuation, I've bought dozens of early A's with the same kind of description. adam@unobtanium-inc.com

    Thanks-

Interesting, the GT tank is a later one as the early tanks had different embossing. The wind wings are cool, are those on the kardex? Your car is likely a jan-feb 56 car. Have not seen the wind wings before on a car that early. Any pictures of the wood wheel?

    Shouldn’t a 56 have beehives?

Yes, but many cars in period were "updated" with teardrops by their owners
