    The first company who rebuilt the mfi did it so poorly, they used epoxy to hold part of it together. I'm sure it was probably running a bit rich during initial break in. So if the rings didn't seat properly, what would be the next step?

    As others have said I would really start with a leak-down test. That way you aren't chasing ghosts and you have a baseline. We did one on what we thought was our healthy 356 that was rebuilt in the 80's (with less than 15K since that rebuild) and low and behold the numbers were terrible.

    Below are my leak down numbers for my car. None of these numbers look terrible. Thanks once again for any advice/opinions.

    My leak down numbers are as follows:

    Leak down test:
    3- 2% rings 6- 1% rings
    2- 7% rings 5- 4% rings
    1- 1% rings 4- 1% rings
