    ‘72 911T Mirror

I'm new to 911's. My rear view mirror is partially discolored/stained. Is there a solution to clean this off or is only option is a replacement?

    Thanks,

New mirror or have the glass replaced.

You sure it’s on the surface? Many old mirrors have the reflective backing attacked by moisture over time. No fix for that. If it is indeed on the surface, try medical alcohol for a start. If you can feel anything on the surface, try goof off as well. Happy PORSCHE ownership, and welcome to the forum!

I don't think it's on the surface since it's smooth like the clean side. I think you're right about the reflective backing being damaged by moisture. It's the original mirror. Is it possible to replace the glass insert without damaging the plastic housing?

    Thanks,
    Ducky

I found a replacement mirror on the Pelican Parts Forum. I was hoping for a cheaper solution. I suppose nothing is really "cheap" when it comes to Longhood 911's.

    Thanks,
    Ducky

Well, you could always hunt down an old Lamborghini to fix up. That might be a cure.

Seriously though, my favorite part of fixing old Porsches is they stay fixed one it’s done right. (Unlike some marques we all know)
