    Throttle Linkage length - 1971

I decided to replace my throttle linkage - as you can see from the photo below - it had wear at the rounded tip. After much frustration in getting the set up all correct, I discovered the new one from Pelican/Porsche genuine was over 1/2 inch longer. This makes a real difference, even with some adjustment allowed at the other end. Not sure what is the correct size anymore. I believe I have the correct part number?

The standard definition of supplied parts these days is "almost fits" we consider them a starting point. My way to shorten a pull rod is to cut to length, then push both ends into a roll pin and weld or braze together. The roll pin acts as a strengthening sleeve.

    Hello,

I encountered exactly the same problem on my 911 2.0E 1969.
I bought part 901 423 026 03 on an alternative site, seeing that the length of the trombone side was not good, I ordered it directly from Porsche, and I still have the same problem.
    Has anyone tried with ref. 901 423 026 02 (te ref. for 1968) ?
Simonjjb, what did you do ?

If the axle relief “fits” without interference the rod can be shortened by using a die to extend the threads down the rod and cutting off the excess length.

This what I had to do when I replaced / rebuilt the throttle linkage on my '71E as well. Threading the rod worked but I still need to thread it further to "shorten" it even more.

@Garycox, you're right axle relief “fits” without interference , the rod can be shortened.
But my mechanic want find the good reference of the rod (perhaps ref.: #901 423 026 02 ? ).
We are in contact with our local Porsche dealer to find a solution.

NB: the "old rod" on the photo is the "same" that we bought to our local Porsche Dealer.

    The good part is definitely 901 423 026 02

Here are the numbers of the 02 part which fits at least for 69's MFI cars :
