    Shipping Ethics

We've discussed shipping responsibilities previously and it was clear that the shipment is the responsibility of the shipper until it has arrived at its destination (we didn't discussed porch pirates). Now I have an issue that's a bit finer.

If you fill an order by having your vendor drop ship, who has ultimate responsibility? You as the seller or the vendor who drop shipped?

    Thanks,
    John

John, you have the ultimate responsibility to your customer.
I presume in this scenario that you are the vendor's customer, so their responsibility is to you.

So if the customer does not receive the shipment it's my responsibility to reimburse them. And it's the vendor's responsibility to reimburse me?

    Thanks,

    ^^^Exactly John.

You are the supplier to your customer regardless of whether the order is filled/shipped by you personally or via one of your suppliers directly.

John, you'll have to look into the legalities of claiming FOB origin, if you want to limit your responsibilities of parcels in transit.
Your customer would then have to make shipping and insurance arrangements from the vendor's loading dock, which isn't very practical for relatively small transactions.

Drop shipping is a convenience/efficiency between you and your supplier. The end buyer has no involvement, hence no liability in the event of non-delivery.

Agree with everyone else. It's on the seller.
