    My smoking 2.0

My rebuilt 2.0 in my 911e has began smoking. The engine has just been rebuilt, along with the mfi by Gus Pfister, the distributor by John Jenkins. I had a second shop work on it recently to no avail. The leakdown numbers are:
    3- 2% rings 6- 1% rings
    2- 7% rings 5- 4% rings
    1- 1% rings 4- 1% rings

    The compression numbers are:
    Compression test:
    3- 170 psi 6- 175 psi
    2- 155 psi 5- 165 psi
    1- 170 psi 4- 169 psi

The last mechanic noted the throttle bodies are shot with no room for adjustment, but will work for the time being. The car is smoking, so I will not drive it. When starting it, if you try to bring the rpm's up at all, it just smokes and acts like half the cylinders aren't working. Any thoughts, comments??

Get the car running on all cylinders and drive it, what can it hurt now, that might be the problem.

I don't know for a fact it's not running on all cylinders, just a guess. It went from working, to not working. I don't see where attempting to drive it in this condition will heal the problem.

Is the spark plug on #2 oily compared to the others?

I have not pulled any plugs. Was waiting to see what suggestions people had.

Was the oil changed recently? Prior to the smoking?

    Just a suggestion….

Two of the boards best mechanics have responded. You might start with their recommendations and report back.

Oil was changed but not overfilled. I checked the airbox to be sure of this. When I do a cold start, my procedure is to pull up the hand throttle all the way. A button has been added that I push for about 2 seconds to squirt some gas in. When the car starts it just lingers at idle with the hand throttle all the way up. If I go to accelerate with the pedal, where it used to rev quickly, even while hand throttle still on, now it just lingers and slowly climbs in rpm's, even with pedal to the floor. I removed the air filter to inspect stacks, they're all spotless. Smoke is a blue like color, not black.

That enrichment button sounds suspect to me.

Sounds more like an Oil problem, not a Fuel rich problem.
