    Rebuilding steering box: bearing

I need to replace the 2 bearings in my steering box.

According to the parts manual are the bearings the 16002 Din 625 and 16003 Din 625.
They appear to be available in C0 and C3

The question is does Din 625 mean standard play?

    Thanks

    Richard,

I would imagine a C0 is the way to go but the C3 will likely work just fine also. The couple of tenths of extra play it has you will likely never notice. Standard 16002 bearings are dirt cheap

Richard, DIN 625 are standards for single-row deep groove ball bearings.
The standards include radial clearance ratings, CN being normal, C3 or above being larger than normal and C2 or below being smaller than normal.

You say "available in C0 and C3"... are you sure it's not C0 through C3?

If Porsche didn't specify a radial clearance rating, then it's assumed to be CN.

You might wait until you remove and inspect the bearings before ordering replacements.
The radial clearance rating, if not CN, is usually noted on the bearing.

The shop that I checked online only has C0 and C3.
Since the bearings pictured are so worn I wanted to make sure it’s not a C3.

    I will get two C0’s.

Thanks for all shared input above
