How are ever going to be able to instill a work ethic in our youth? No need to produce anything useful when all you have to do is find a sucker a little dumber and less educated than you for your latest scheme? These times are very very difficult for someone from Vermont originally who spent most of his youth on a ranch in Texas.

    GOML!

Well, I'm using Ethereum to buy NFT art to hang in my virtual home in the Metaverse.

I've been in technology and computers all my life. Started taping printed circuit boards in high school and to work my way through college. Ended my career with over 30 years designing and managing IC chips and groups, last 20 years with Intel Corp. NFTs? I don't get it. I see very little intrinsic value. It seems to me a rapidly expanding bubble that will burst hard. Those who got in and out with a profit will be fine but there will be others who pay quite a large price at the end. Am I just too old or do I just have the wisdom to smell BS? I think the latter.

Door #2. I think that FOMO is a big motivator in folks willing to suspend disbelief. This thing taps two of the biggies in our society: greed and desire to be hip.

Of course, many of of the so-called millennials feel the same way about a $200k, 50 year old car that is less reliable, less comfortable, slower, and get's worse gas mileage than a $25k Honda.
Funny, that’s exactly what I was thinking while I was reading all of the comments. I see people questioning the intrinsic value of NFTs while we are on a forum dedicated to $100-200k heaps of metal on wheels

Speaking of Merry Christmas and NFTs, here's an NFT on the world's first text message that just sold for $121,000.

    It read "Merry Christmas".

I guess that we have to remember that a lot of these assets, including our cars and houses, are denominated in dollars, a fiat currency rapidly losing value as the debt grows. I'm not sure when the illusion stops but I imagine it will. Check this out:

    Happy New Year!
