My 71 Hot Rod Engine Build - Almost done

This has been quite a journey, and appreciate this board for lots and lots of great information and knowledge since I've owned my 71.

I bought the car, literally, on a whim (it was my 3rd air cooled porsche, first long hood), and found I got a really great car and have just enjoyed it immensely since. The vision was always for a bit of a sleeper hot rod, the car came to me with a 77 2.7 motor in it with webers and was already much more lively than a stock T, but given it wasn't original, I also knew I would use it as a platform for some ongoing improvements to make it like I want it - a great vintage socal canyon ripper....

I chronicled much of my ownership the last 3+ years here:
    https://rennlist.com/forums/911-foru...1971-911t.html

The latest phase was buying a solid 2.7 core motor (so I could keep enjoying the car) and building it into a bit of an experiment on doing lots of modern tech inside the vintage mag case. Details are in the thread above, but it revs over 8k and makes over 100hp/l at the crank on CA 91 octane, runs cool, and is SUPER lively. We also had bill rader redo the gear stack with a GT Gears LSD, and he just nailed that, the ratios are super fun and not too buzzy.

Several bumps along the way: COVID supplier issues, lots and lots of custom parts (you know, custom cars, custom problems), and these always just take more time an effort than you anticipate. But hell, isn't the journey half the fun????

Its about 98% there now, just working on a final bit of tuning. The drivability is really nice with EFI.

Hope to have it out on the canyons this week before it rains!

Congrats on the journey as much as the destination. It's been fun seeing your car's evolution and, as you've pointed out, some of the parallels between our approaches. (edit: Realize that might've come off as self-serving, apologies if it did.)

I can't wait to see this car either. I have a similar build 71 2.7 MFI in Tangerine and a very similar build (color, mods, etc) to your Guards Red 964 like the one you built! I do make it down to LA from time to time and hope to see you on a drive or meet up!
