Question It sold for how much? Really?

Anyone else see this? A yellow '72T with "issues", 9112100856.

    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-porsche-911t-53/

    Sold for $90k + 5% fee?

I'm having some difficulty getting my head around this one. As I continue to consider selling my own '72T, I'd come to the conclusion that its market value is probably ~$95k. But if that yellow car can bring $90k on BaT, I think I'm going to have to sell mine there as well. That was totally nuts!

I thought it might hit 60k, that is a bag of surprises. Engine look ok. BAT is at times inexplicable.

    This was a surprise too.

FOMO has hit the Porsche market hard.

    I agree Arne
That price for a “yellowish” car, non-matching, likely big accident, with a lot of question marks …
232 comments - amazing the interest it generated.
I thought the seller (Mohr) was reasonable and restrained and put in all pictures one would really/reasonably need to make an informed judgement and decision .
I certainly don’t understand the price paid.

I can’t see a reason why you “wouldn’t” sell yours on BAT !! (Glws if you do !!)

Completely agreed, I was floored as I was watching the final 30 minutes of the auction!
I guess many folks were enjoying some undistracted time off work, spending time on BaT they usually wouldn't have had. Perfect timing for the seller.
Currently in between Porsches. Sold my 73.5T Targa, now suffering from serious withdrawal symptoms. Attending Rennsport Reunion VI didn't really help getting over it.

Well, I've sold on BaT before, and there are some headaches involved. And BaT generally tries to encourage a lower than market reserve, which is not really a problem on good examples of a desirable car. But it does add to the stress level of a seller.

Yeah, that car needs a date with a Celette bench big time.
I'm guessing the wheelbase on the driver side was about 1" shorter than the wheelbase on the passenger side.
Additionally, the car was sloppily painted and assembled.
A real horror show in my eyes.
To me, that was not a deal.
Not sure how much I would have offered, but it would have been substantially less.
As long as the buyer is OK spending that kind of cash on a car in that kind of condition, all is good I guess.

And yes, Bring A Trailer is a great place to sell a car (I sold my hotrod for crazy money...way more than I estimated).
The amount of eyeballs you can get on your car is off the charts.
Not so much a great place for buying a car any more.

A tape measure and a few minutes would probably have been enough to scare away someone interested in this car IMHO. Surprised at the sales price.
