    1973 RSR Vin verification

Greetings fellow Porsche family members. I am new to your site and from Australia, seeking help to discover the true history of a recent purchase, not my first Porsche, but certainly the one with some mystery attached. It is a March 1973 build, but currently upgraded to a 1974 short bonnet RS look. The Vin suggests it is at least the body of a 1973 RSR, #9113600847, however, I believe a vehicle with the same Vin was enter in the Monterey Motorsport Reunion in 2013. Anyone with any knowledge or suggestions as to how I can verify the true identity please let me know or post comments which may assist.
    Regards, Vic

I referred to the RS book and looked up the options to see if that might give a clue as what to look for on the body. #847 came with only one option, #220, limited slip diff. So not much help. There are still RS/RSR modifications to the body shell you can look for. All the RS and RSR cars have the reinforcement on the rear tunnel where the opening is to connect the transmission to the shift shaft. THe RSR has many more places to look.

Is the car listed in the RS book as a 491

As a matter of fact it did not I don't believe. I'll have to double check.

I just checked Starkey's book R to RSR and 847 was a real RSR with a lot of documented history.

    Yes, RS book says 491
