911 interior in a very special fabric

Like many others here I do have a soft spot for seats (I don't mean that litterally, that would be vulgar), especially Recaro Sportsitz. About 30 years ago I spotted a 912 at a fair. It had seats with an orange fabric of a type more common on old funiture than on car seats. They looked similar to this:

They could of course be aftermarket covers, but seemed very genuine.

Having spent many hours through a number of years since then browsing the internet for pictures of seats in old Porsches, I cannot remember having seen anything similar, except from in this single example delivered to Ferry Porsche in 1969:

Did Porsche ever offer such fabrics to customers? Or could any customer choose any kind of fabric against a fee?

I would like some day to have an interior with my own personal touch, but I also want it to be period correct and (in theory) obtainable when the car was new in 1973.

The Porsche studio was able to order whatever kind of cloth they liked.

I know many later cars with cloth seats from Missoni of Milano, Italy.
It could be really difficult to find replacement cloth, by the way.

I see. Interesting, but did Porsche offer such special fabrics before 1974, except from to family members?

If you have some colour black, I'd be interested.

With the right connections, it was certainly possible to order any type of fabric, but this was unofficial by definition. If you have a doubt on a particular car, only factory documents could prove if the fabric is original or not.

Porsche was often responsive to Sonderwünsche when accompanied by appropriate payment.
