    Blue or Black

    Hi Gents

    We are currently stripping a 1982 911sc Targa and notice that the chassis is originally painted in the Light Blue metallic of that year however the car is in fact Black and the VIN confirms this as a black car. Does anyone have information or as heard of the Stuttgart factory or Porsche North America back in the 1980's changing a cars color pre registration its a little strange.

    let me know your thoughts

    Cheers
    G

    The metallic part throws me off.

    I’ve seen many original paint black cars that have a light to medium blue in various places in the trunk, engine compartment and under the carpet.
    looking for 1972 911t motor XR584, S/N 6121622

    We are probably assuming its Metallic as that is the closest color on the paint charts that we can see but the color is everywhere

    Yes that was my first feeling however the numbers stamped on the dash also correspond to the same year and Targa Model as the VIN states plus zero evidence of foul play not to mention it is a matching numbers engine and Trans.
    If someone said they Paint primer the chassis in Blue first it would make sense
