    Cracked Gear Shift Rod

My gear shift lever disconnected from the gear shift rod this weekend. When I opened up the tunnel, if found that at the end of the gear shift rod cracked right were the nipple and the main shift rod come together. The crack is small but it caused the nipple to become loose enough where I could pull it out of the rod. I mentioned to a friend that this had happened and he seems to think that Porsche just epoxied the nipple into the rod. I have a new gear shift rod on hand and looking at it, I don’t see evidence of a weld (I’ve attached of photo of the new rod). So I was wondering if I could just re-epoxy the nipple back into the gear shift rod while in the tunnel. This would be a lot easier than pulling the engine/transmission out to install a new gear shift rod. Has anyone ever come across something like this? Any recommendations on what epoxy I should use?

    Thanks

    Chris

No way will epoxy work. I'd get it welded for a few bucks. A mobile welder could do that in place.
