    SWB/flat 6 fuchs/ 175 Avons?

My '66 current has 5.5 inch steel wheels with 175 Avon CR6ZZ tires. I've recently bought a pair of flat 6 fuchs to try. The tires are pretty expensive, and they have quite a bit of life left. Will the 175s looks terrible on the six-inch wheels? Must I bite the bullet for the 185s?

They won't look too bad. A 175 on a 6" rim will get squared off a bit in profile (the recommended rim width is 4.5-6") and won't look too different than a Michelin XWX 185 on a 6" rim (whose allowable rim widths are 5-6.5").

As I recall the current 175 is what they use to sell as their 185 before they came out with the current 185 so you should be fine.

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.

Thanks guys. Sounds like it won't look bad enough to force me to shell out for another set of tires just yet.

Well the up side of buying a new set of tires is the Fuch's are a new look, fill them out with a bigger tire maybe a 195-60 and enjoy the new look. Then you can go back & forth between them and the steelies depending on your mood. Like shoes, one pair is not enough!!

    Have Fun!!
