    Strange seat insert material

Has anyone ever seen this seat insert material before or was it custom installed later? I owned this 1970 911 34 years ago and it had this seat material which I thought might be factory. Ironically, I bought it back today. It's Peru red and the inserts match perfectly.

i do have seats in that same material..seats came off a very untouched 67 912 that i parted out years ago . i always thought this is a 912 only material ...some 912 folks i`v asked denied this..even said it is not factory(which i think it is) but never investigated further...

looks like your car has some swb touch (door panels)

I had a talk with the upholsterer doing the jobs for the factory and the museum.
He does not recall to have seen this fabric in any of the samples he has in his book from
    Stuttgart.

He thought this fabric being a replacement for the red/blk/wht pepita.
The car from Moito is from 67, your car is from 1970.
Please do have a closer look at the stitches…and if possible post a pic of the conneting fabric.

Haul, Interesting. Here are some close up shots of my seats. Seems very odd that 2 Porsches so far apart would have the same seat insert material if it was not factory. Let me know if you need more photos. Thanks

you can try looking at the bottom of the seat back..
if the upholstery was put on with Stapels instead of nails/tacks then it is not factory...
All so were the Vinal is ripped look to see if the Vinal backing is blue. if not blue then not factory...

I think that these seats are recovered. The original comfort seatcovers used the piping sewing method. Using this method the thread is hidden and not to be seen. Here you have the normal sewing as you see the thread on the surface of the fabric.

I’ve never seen that fabric before. Factory or not, I like it!
