Thread: Current Factory Available Mufflers

    Current Factory Available Mufflers

I have a 1973 with a factory correct 1974 muffler. As indicated elsewhere, the insides are the same - it's just that the pipe bends lower down (for '74+ bumpers).

I haven't found a good used one to buy yet (open to anyone who has one to sell).

Porsche does sell a new one. Does anyone have any thoughts on the quality and how it compares to old stock?

I will say that I did buy a new muffler from the factory for my 912. It turned out to be just the latest Dansk muffler - which is known not to fit very well. I returned it, and now happily have the correct original factory muffler on the 912. So I'm worried that the current 911 factory offering is a similarly lower quality Dansk.

Also, the factory lists the part number as 911-111-025-00 and superseded by 911-111-025-05. Does anyone know what the difference is?

The muffler Porsche sells which is allegedly made by Dansk is very good , very close to the original and much better than their less expensive product , well worth the extra money in my opinion .

Thanks!! And though not the most beloved car - I'm honored that your response was your 924th - at least it has Porsche significance.

If any new factory part that you buy from Porsche today was made in Germany it can't be Dansk because they are located in Denmark.

I certainly hope that none of the factory parts are made by Dansk.

The Porsche Classic muffler is of much better quality (and sounds better) than the Dansk muffler. I had them both and the Classic muffler is definitely worth the extra cost.

Jay, It seems that 911-111-025-05 Replaces the following:
    901-111-011-02,
    901-111-011-03,
    901-111-011-04,
    901-111-011-05,
    901-111-011-08,
    901-111-011-09,
    901-111-011-10,
    901-111-011-13, and 911-111-025-00

I have the Porsche one and it is of higher quality than the Dansk one and it doesn’t have the internal pipe restrictions the Dansk one has. There was a thread on this in the Technical forum just a few weeks ago.

Thanks. That definitely answered it. Here is the actual thread, should someone come across this thread first some day. https://www.early911sregistry.org/fo...sk-sport/page6

the Dansk muffler weighs a ton compared to the original OEM Porsche used. That is a big consideration.

Anyone know what the Classic Porsche muffler weighs?

I also note that I suggested that the Classic one might be made by Dansk, because the Classic 912 muffler is made by Dansk. Someone above said that if the Classic one is made in Germany, then it would not be Dansk. And Ravi (@NorthernThrux) said his muffler is a Classic muffler and there are pictures of it on the thread he mentioned. Those pictures show it was made in Germany. So maybe there is hope yet that the Classic is not just a rebranded heavy, lower quality Dansk.
