    Rare 1967-68 Momo Monza

Thinking about parting with this uber rare 360mm Prototipo style Momo Monza. The Pat Momo stamping on the back indicates that this wheel was made around 66-67, so a very early Momo wheel with original leather and loads of patina.

FULL DISCLOSURE: this steering wheel had a completely severed spoke that was expertly welded and repaired by a very well known and respected Porsche specialist (happy to provide more specific information on this for interested buyers). Please have a look at the pictures.

Very difficult to price this rare of wheel to begin with let alone one that has a history, but this would be a very cool addition for any vintage Momo collector as I don’t recall seeing one of these for sale any time recently. Anyway, with two cars undergoing engine rebuilds and restorations I could use the cash, I am putting this one up for sale.

Was it painted then and not re-anodized?

Painted. The only way to reannodize would have been to remove the original leather and start over. Just the welded repair was painted to match the original anodizing.

Hey John, when they painted the spokes after the cleaning the welds, did they paint the entire alloy area or did they blend and leave some of the original anodizing unpainted?
I have an almost identical monza that has a crack repair in the same area.
    Good luck with the sale.

Hey Mark, this is the one that Rich did for me. I asked him about some of the process, but I think he preferred to keep some of the artistry part of the finishing close to the vest which I totally understand. The finish is amazing, its hard to tell unless looking closely anything was even done. Is your car still at his shop? Maybe he would be more inclined to give you some details in person.

No, my car isn't at Rich's shop. LOL.. that sounds like Richard but believe me... there's nothing magical about fixing the spokes on a MOMO. He's done a couple of mine.
