With no diagrams, it is difficult to understand what is happening.
    1. Since you say the engine runs, the starter relay must work. Correct?
    2. You say the engine still has run on, but the fuel pump does stop when the key is off. Correct?
If correct then the engine will stop when the fuel in the float chamber runs out. About 1/4 mile.
    3. Now, The small red wire on the MSD has to have 12VDC when the ignition is off. Correct? If you connect the small red wire on the MSD to the fuel pump positive terminal, then the run on will stop with the key.
I have no clue what the 4 terminal resistor or the B/P wire is.
I think you should solve the run on problem first, then worry about the tach.

    Hi Steve
    Thanks for your comments.
The key will shut the fuel pump off, if the engine is not running, but not if the engine is running? Seems to be an additional power source in my system? The 4 terminal relay is on wire diagram L59, which connects to the fuel pump. But, I don't fully understand the purpose of the relay? The black/purple wire goes to the tach, but I agree, get it running on and off, then the tach.
    Thanks for participating.

    HI
If you send your e-mail add, I'll send a diagram of my current wiring with no longer "run on" and it will shut off with the key. I have it on my phone but can't figure out how send it on this thread.
    Thanks for your comments.
