    Coat Hook Removal

    Have a periodic irritating squeak up in the passenger coat hook area. Figure I'd remove the hook and see if it is the culprit, but I don't see any exposed fasteners to remove it.

    Before I start random prying I thought I'd ask .... does one pry it off from the bottom? Exposing a bracket?

    There are actually two pieces. A metal piece that screws into the body and the black plastic cover piece that snaps over the metal piece. So you pop the black piece out at the bottom and then push it up to get it off the metal piece. Then unscrew the metal piece. Not much to get lose there though unless the screw has come loose, so not sure if that is the source of your rattle. More likely the light or a headliner stay.

    Thank you Ravi.

    I am suspecting the headliner bows as well. I did remove and repositioned the overhead passenger light, but didn't seem to make any difference.

    The good news (?) is that it is about to be replaced so timing is good. Amazed if it is one of the bows but ..... stranger things..

    Supposed this is the time to also take a look at the SR motor, cables and rails. Any recommended/preffered grease like MBZ cars?
