What kind of work would this engine need to run for a few years...? I'm looking for an engine in which I may have to invest something but not totally "rebuild". No history? Why was it stored if it was rebuilt?

This was part of a large parts purchase from a shop that was no longer working on air cooled cars, just newer exotic cars.
The owner passed away a number of years ago and his wife took over the shop.
The owner was a big collector of air cooled parts and we purchased 2 - 25' truck loads of parts.
Everything was in dry storage for years but I couldn't tell you how many years that might have been.
