How to tell a reproduction from an original? I am aware of different shades of gold but that can be the result of other factors?

The bars connecting the letters have a rippled finish…on the reproduction they’ve got a different feel. Also there’ quite a difference in the finish on that reproduction than from an original part.

Ignorant question! Is the badge the same on a 356 as an early 811 ?

No. Personally I can live with the one piece version I got from Stoddards a few years ago.

No. It is different. The one piece type sold now have a visible seam like the two piece ones so I don’t know how you would tell the difference installed. I found in my parts an original two piece script with one broken connecting pin, never installed, PM me if interested.

I have 3 of the two piece PORSCHE Script. One is perfect, one has the P broken away from the O but when mounted since the P has the pin on it you probably could not tell its broken. The third
has the part with the holes broken off but still attached to the PORS piece, and when attached to the lid you could not tell. All of mine have not been used. I can send pictures but do not know what to look for as far as reproductions go ? What did you think of the one on E-Bay , repro, price, ?
