HISTORY

Because of the new EPA and DOT laws, Porsche did not import the new S into the United States. In order to obtain this model, Bruce entrusted Heinz Bade who was a friend and mechanic that had residency in Sweden. Bade took delivery of the car at the Porsche dealer in Hamburg; he then brought the car into North America via Canada. Upon taking delivery of the ‘68S, Jennings took the car immediately to Jerry McCarthy. McCarthy was known for his race car preparation and his attention to detail. Bruce gave McCarthy orders to turn the car into a race car as best he could. The car was earmarked to run SCCA Regionals and Nationals on the east coast. The car also competed in numerous TransAm races as well as IMSA.

In January of 1997, good friend, fellow driver, and member of Jennings crew, Russ Poole purchased the car from Bruce. Russ was at Bruce’s house sorting parts and visiting the day Bruce passed away. For the next 11 years, Russ vintage raced the car and took great pains to preserve its history. In 2007, the car was purchased by Phil Bagley of Klub Sport Racing and went through a total restoration.
