    First factory cassette player?

    History question: when did Porsche first begin offering a cassette player in their cars? Did the dealers offer this as well?

    the earliest I have is a Philips CR from the Sept '68 accessories brochure # 9470
    however individual dealers may have had access to these via their local car radio outlet before Porsche started offering them as factory options
    not sure when these Philips CRs came onto the general market

    Thank you, Dennis. I recently saw a Kardex from a 1969 car that listed it as an option from the factory.

    1968 sounds right. I wonder if it wasn't mono (rather than stereo) at this point?

    no doubt a rare option must have been a mono version of the cassette with only one dash speaker!

    I had an early '69 S that had the philips 22RN582 listed as a factory option. I searched for 15 years to find that radio.
    looking for 1972 911t motor XR584, S/N 6121622
