OK, here is another data point...
My car has the VIN *911 330 1268* - the Birth day is July 1'st, 1973....BUT, on the "silver" door tag it says 06/73 ...?...
(My car has the VIN after (71six) Mark Curtin's car)

Additional info on 1162. Not sure if sticker is original or not. How to tell?

Lars, this is a perfect example of what I meant in my previous post. The "birth date" on the CoA is actually the invoice date recorded in the computer production records. But PCNA does not have any other date available to them, so they use that as an approximation for the true completion date. The compliance decal date should be correct for the actual completion date. You may note that the Invoice date is never before the Compliance decal date, and the Invoice date is very often the first of the month which is a real tipoff that it really only means the month of invoicing, not the actual day it was invoiced.
Can you post a photo, or email to me, of the Compliance decal with 06/73 please. The transition from Porsche KG to Porsche AG was late in the month of May as seen on the decals. I am always interested in these decal and particularly when there are changes in the design. It is also very interesting to know about cars in these transition periods since the actual changes to the aluminum manufacturer plate and the compliance deal and other printed matter might not have been complete, so a car might have a mix of KG and AG. Okay, so I am a nerd.

Very likely original. Note the layers of paint built up around it. There's only one place that makes a perfect copy with the anti-tamper circles of the right thickness etc. But the one in this picture has 2 discernible layers of pain on top of it, so it's been there a long time.
