    strange flashing.....

I fired up my 71S on Saturday night and both the emergency brake light and both turn signals flash together on the gauges.
The emergency brake was not on.....checked several times.
Stranger than that, all turn signals work as well as the hazard lights.
All of the fuses were intact and tight and the only recent work that has been done is replacing both batteries.
    Any ideas are appreciated.

The flashing occurs as soon as the key is turned on, whether the engine is running or not.
    No ideas?

How often does the flashing occur? Like 10 times per minute or 30 times or?????

    Good question!
The flashing occurs with the same regularity of the hazard lights and/or turn signals.

Are you sure the switch in the hand brake has not seized or shorted?

I would turn on the ignition without starting the engine then put your hand on the various relays under the cowling to see which one is flashing. Then unplug the relay to see what is not working. This gets you closer. Do you have an electrical schematic?

Did you change anything just before the flashing started?

I guess it could be shorted. If it were shorted out, would that make the turn signals flash, too?

    1969911T,
    That's not a bad idea.
Yes, I have both factory and Prospero's Garage schematics.
The only change/work on the car prior to this flashing was to change both batteries.

I have a 73, but yes I believe that is correct. Both the lights flash if the handbrake is not completely down as the contact from the gauge light is still grounded through the switch. So it's possible that the switch has lost it's adjustment. You have to remove the rubber boot to adjust it. It's a bit rube goldberg but pretty obvious once you look at it. Easily adjustable. I'm not sure if your car has a switch on the master cylinder. If it does and that is grounded, I think you can get the same behaviour. You can unplug it from underneath the car and see what happens. It could be that switch has failed or that you are actually low on brake fluid.
