New: AC14 Smugglers Box Road Kit®

This kit is designed to fit perfectly into your smugglers box where it can be stored out of the way. Yet it contains everything you need in one kit to take care of many common roadside problems. It's designed for the self-reliant Porsche 911/912/930 owner who would rather get rolling on their own without waiting on - and depending on - AAA.

This kit has stirred up a lot of interest and we have received a number of questions about the components. Here is detailed information with rankings.

    Stow Bag - 5/5
    Porsche Motorsport
We loved it that this bag was the perfect size.

    Emergency Lighting - 5/5
    Stonepoint LED Lighting Pucks
These are replacing the old fashioned awkward orange triangles, officially in some countries. BIG improvement and very cool.

    Battery Booster - 4/5
    Imazing Portable Jump Starter
We liked another one better (NOCO which we sell) but this one is a perfect size. These are rapidly replacing the jumper cables that we have used all our life, a big improvement.

    LED Flashlight - 4/5
LED flashlights are pretty much a commodity at this point. We like the size and functionality of this no-name.

    First Aid Kit - 5/5
    American Red Cross
Easy choice. How are you going to do better than the American Red Cross first aid kit for autos?

    Window Breaker - 5/5
This also cuts seat belts. Another commodity item, we just liked this one

    Duct Tape - 5/5
    Gorilla To-Go Duct Tape
Another commodity, but can you go wrong with Gorilla? Having towed a vintage Airstream trailer we have found this to be one of the valuable items.

    Fire Extinguisher - 5/5
    Element E50
This is a fascinating one. Number one you need to be sure that you're carrying a "clean" fire extinguisher that doesn't leave a corrosive residue that can cause corrosion. We offer the Halguard H3R for the larger one that most of us carry inside the car. The one n the kit, made by Element in Italy, is legendary for its small size and its big performance. You should really look into this one.

    Tow Strap - 5/5
    JCHL Nylon Tow Strap.
None of us are eager to tow our Porsches and we spent a lot of time researching what seems to be a commodity. It's important to distinguish between straps rated for towing and straps rated for hauling. Hauling straps are designed to pulling a car out of ditch and are much stronger than towing straps.

    Tire Inflator - 4/5
    Acpuri Portable Tire Inflator
This is another item that is rapidly becoming a commodity. We selected this one because it has good reviews, a great price, and a perfect size.

    Tire Gauge - 3/5
    Justtop Digital Tire Gauge
Millions of tire gauges out there. We wanted a digital one at an attractive price.

    Fuse Kit - 5/5
    Audette Collection Fuse Kit
Did you know that Porsche used the same fuses from 1950-1989?! That company wastes nothing. The important thing is to use ceramic fuses as opposed to the commonly available cheapo plastic ones.

    Circuit Tester - 3/5
    AstroAl Digital Multimeter
This is an inexpensive one as it will be rarely be used, but it has good reviews. We use a higher quality one in our shop.

    Fix-a-Flat
What can you say? I'm not even going to rate this because it's pretty mickey-mouse. But it plugs the hole and allows you to use your tire inflator, and limp to help.

I spent a lot of time putting this together, a fun project. Hopefully a few folks will find it useful and buy it. I'm not making the big bucks here. it's kind of half business and half service to promote safety in the Porsche community. Thanks for looking.

    Cheers,
    John
