questions about a Golde sunroof on a LWB car

Hi. I'd like to get the collective's thoughts on a Golde sunroof in a LWB that I'm considering purchasing. It was supposedly placed prior to dealership delivery. It's not on the COA.

Are these common? Are they a rust hazard? Are they a red flag for future buyers?

Just trying to understand how they are viewed.

    Thanks,
    PB

the fact that it is missing on the COA does not mean it is not factory installed....coa isn`t always right. open the zipper on the roofliner and have a look ...should be pretty easy to determine whether it`s original or dealer installed.

if dealer installed it would be a red flag for me

I find it hard to believe any Golde sunroof was installed by the factory in this period. Golde operated a US company (American Suncraft maybe) that installed sunroof so my guess this is what it is.

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.

Golde Sunroofs had an American subsidiary known as American Sunroofs. Started and owned by Hans Prechter, the Co. installed Golde sunroofs by cutting a hole and fitting a steel template the same size as the "factory" opening, shaping the hole through metal work to perfectly fit the sliding panel. Many Mfr's used ASC in the USA. There's one way to tell on a 911 if the roof is O.E.
If the electric motor is in the rear, it's factory. If it's in the front, it's aftermarket. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
To the OP : generally not a rust problem unless the drains get clogged or the paint / prep work was substandard.
The red flag on these is if you're able to wear your Stetson or not, due to headroom being diminished by an inch or three.

Thanks everyone. I’ve attached a picture. It looks like it is not from the factory.

I’ve read some posts of folks having trouble servicing the roof as none of the parts are available any longer (except second hand).

I’ve learned a lot. Thanks for weighing in. Name: 93A44932-26DB-4543-B6AC-46CE60669E38.jpg
