    Restored 5,5j x 15 fuchs wheels

    Hi all,

I have a set of 4 matching year 1968 fuchs wheels for sale. The wheels are honest, no welds, cracks, dents or whatsoever. The wheels were in good used shape before restoration band never used for racing. I had them restored in Germany and the result is perfect in my opinion. In the past years I had several wheels restored by various company’s but this restorer is my best. The wheels have their original numbers 90136101204, 5,5 x 15. The dates are 1/68, 1/68, 5/68 and 7/68. But I am not sure about the month 1 and 7 they look very much the same. See for yourself I made extensive pictures.

The restoration process is done meticulously also with the costly anodization process. So no polished wheels or silver paint.

    Price: 3800$
shipment to the US is 200$.

If needed I can download more pictures if desired 8DB9A4FF-5675-4577-ADE0-B934F75EC3CD.jpg580CD0BE-C480-4948-90A7-BE5D5EA382D8.jpg23D0A7B2-4346-469F-BC28-A5C10EFEDE83.jpg5B128402-DFAD-4CA1-8CD7-F5AB98A50831.jpg5A3221FD-5414-4685-9D49-2F624D0078AF.jpg413E68CB-D5D8-4A9A-931A-77109EA1B2A6.jpg6B6C69BC-8E8F-4B10-8D4E-A088C898213A.jpg33639A71-A399-41A2-8096-AAA5E25F6061.jpg666B34EF-D795-49E7-8FE4-DF280725BBDA.jpg1918DCAE-2E8D-4CB8-BEFB-6232C4DA22FC.jpg

Hi they are original 5,5j 15 wheels. They look very much like ‘deep six’ wheels but they are 5,5 instead. They were used on late 1967 and 1968 model Porsches. Not sure what ‘deep dish’ means but I hope I answered your question.

All 4,5"-5,5"-6"-7R(with 901 part number) are "deep" and use the same center design, only the rim lip which is different (4,5" also 1/2" more narrow on inside lip).
4,5" has ca 1" flat lip on outside rim
    5,5" has ca 1 1/4"
    Deep6/7R has ca 1 3/4"
Flat 6 which came in 1971 is a complete different design with smaller center (same as 7+8+9+11")and the non-deep design. Better wheel, for tubeless tires but not that good looking as the earlier Fuchs.

First pic is of a flat 6 which has been widened (the flat area)to 11" and now serve as my table base.
Second pic is of a 4,5"(valve location same as 5,5" and deep6(and 7R). You can also see the little profile or "tip" which makes the hole between the spokes heart shaped. This little "tip" disappeared on the last few month of production of the deep6.

    Hi 91167coupe,

Thank you for your helpful comments. The deep dish issue is cleared. Can you give your opinion on the date? Do you think they are early 1/68 wheels of 7/68? Curious to know. Maybe somebody else has a clue?

    Glad to help and clarify
It looks like 7 68(july) but not 100% sure. Check picture on my 1267 date 6R Fuchs, not easy to tell the difference on the 1 and 7.

I have seen 5,5x15 made in 69 so I think the 5,5 where made longer than only for the '68MY. Maybe the 69 912 optioned with Fuchs received the 5,5x15?

In '68 a 6" wheel were very wide in the VW/Porsche world
