    Real McAfee wheels

    Hi All,

I have a nice original McAfee wheel set (five). The wheels do have the typical raised center and that’s how you can recognize the real ones. The set is complete with its original lugnuts. Those are important because they are specific for those wheels and you need them to mount them properly. The center caps are also included in the sale. The wheels are bench tested and straight. They need some polish and new black paint if desired otherwise they are ready for use. One wheel has some curbrash I will send pictures of that in the next message.F6A69DAC-AE05-4940-89DA-AF2F70698650.jpgE475E85A-3D93-418E-A134-822052D58715.jpg077B6B08-A845-4C3B-B486-F66F5771D9ED.jpgA7079E55-9968-4B20-9FCA-F81FBD82433E.jpgFC293D63-F516-4FE8-A62E-DC9F2F4470EA.jpg

    Oh! Size: 5,5 x 15!
One wheel has some curbrash, an ideal spare.

These wheels were used often as an alternative much cheaper option compared to the fuchs wheels. I really like the look of them on an early 911 or 912.

    The pictures are examples. 054AD8C2-51D9-498A-BF12-4D40CC0F12B2.jpgA797161E-83DD-483D-9313-B5EF004C106F.jpeg

Is there a date code or estimate when these were made/sold as new?

    Hi Polaris,

I cannot discern a date code. Do you know where to look for one? They were made from 1967 and later for what I have understood.

For C SC 911 912. Specify model when ordering
For which model are these? Or ?

I once bought as set from Easy (in 1999) and they didn’t fit my 356 rear right side, it rubbed the fender well (Always thought it was the car (I still think) unless the wheels were really different for 356 vs 911/912.

    Hi Richard,

These wheels came from a 1970 912 and were used without any problem. It might be the tires that caused the problem.

Floris it were not the tires, 175 and we tried another brand as well (we had a shop then).

I still think that it was the made by hand 356 but since they mention “specify model” in the ad I just wonder if they came with different offsets. If there were different offsets than 356 would fit 911/912 but not vice versa. It’s not relevant for my car anymore just a personal cold case mystery. Both the wheels and car are gone separately.

    Hi Richard,

I see your point, the add suggests different sizes for different models. The wheels base and tire space is the same for a 911 and a 912 isn’t it? The wheels are just sold to a Los Angeles 912 owner. Curious to know how they will fit. I will ask him his experience when mounted.

Thanks everybody for comments and opinions
