    SWB gas tank finish

    Hello,
I think the pictures below show the original grey plastic like finish of a SWB tank including MY 1968.
If anyone could confirm that, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks.

FWIW, looks just like my ‘72, including 50 years of scuffs and scars.

just for the fun of it.....
what is the date on the gas tank sending unit.
i ask because the picture, which may not be representative of actual color, looks as peter says like a 72 .
72 is generally much lighter grey than a 1968 that would be a mix 50/50 Wurth black/grey

    Thank you for your answers.
Well, unfortunatelly there is no sending unit any more.
But the pipe socket outer diameter of the vent hose is less then 10mm which indicates for me that is should be a SWB tank. As far as I know the diameter was larger later on, I have a 70/71 gas tank where the outer diameter is around 13-15mm (sorry I have to measure, figur according to my memory only).
Peter you my be able to help: What is the diameter of your pipe socket vent hose?
    Thank you in advance.

Would be happy to help but my car is currently a multiple hour drive away. Hopefully someone else can comment.

yes, you are correct about the vent pipe .
I question the color that the camera and its posting is presenting.
why not take some more pictures and see if their posting changes the color representation.
maybe suggesting the sending unit was not the best idea because of the vent tube being indicative of swb

Doesn’t it look like a modified LWB tank?

A SWB fitting is already small when leaving the tank.

Peter, sorry, but I can't beam you up to your car...but thank you!

    I did some measuring:
Gas tank pictured above: The outer diameter of the vent pipe is 8mm.
The outer diameter of the vent pipe of a 70/71 gas tank is 16mm.

But the pictured gas tank above has studs for the fixation of the sending unit? I thought that for all 911 gas tanks up to 1972 the gas level sending unit was scred in? I the pictured gas tank a later model or an aftermarket one?

    Thank you for your input!
