    tac repair

I had a tachometer repair man ask if i wanted to have him place a circuit board in my 1968 tachometer.
He said that it would then be compatible with ignition upgrades.
I told him i want the car to look original, but I really don't know what to do.
    anyone with experience with this?

The circuit board upgrade would not alter the outward appearance of the tach. I would say yes.

If it’s jbell or someone of the same caliber then I’d say yes. I had a 10K tach built for my car and it looks original externally but has the upgraded circuit board to run my modern twin plug distributor.

the motor is not built yet but i have 2.2 barrels cut to 85 and 9.5:1 pistons the motor will likely be 190hp.
I wanted to run the stock electrical panel to keep the stock look.
would there be a reason for the circuit board upgrade with this build intention
Or ..... is there a compelling reason for having this upgrade anyway?
    thanks for the help....

I have a pair of tachs (one from a '77 and one modified 10k tach) with the circuit board to work with my MSD box and both look completely stock. It's a modification you'll do if you're updating the ignition system.
