New AC: White Paper - TTG Driving & Fog Lights - In-Depth

Do you know the difference between TTG fog and driving lights?

Do you know the difference between 5-rivet and 4-rivet lights?

As I mentioned I'm to produce a number if drill down, in-depth White Papers over the coming weeks. The first covers TTG (above the bumper) driving and fog lights, the Hella 118 and 11 (TN4). There are an amazing number of differences and subtleties just in these lights.

Do you know what this one is?

    Here you go:

AC White Paper: Air-Cooled Porsche 118/115 TTG Driving Lights

Michael (911SATMan) has kindly agreed to review it so there may be some changes. And as always I welcome and encourage input.

    Cheers,

Was there a Porsche part number for Hella 118 with yellow reflector the (101269) fluted correct for 72/3 clear fluted lens and what appears to be the long halogen light that goes from the side (H1)

I may have missed it on the white paper? They certainly exist in aftermarket but were they a Porsche OEM version on that configuration. The ones i have on shelf are vintage aftermarket ie not got rivet.

Another small point not above question but while I’m here this old photo show an interesting mix on a RHD British car that IF the licence plate suffix J is correct is 70/71. Shouldn’t legally be older as the regulations regarding the British suffix dating system prohibit older cars bearing an age related suffix that might suggest it’s younger than it is to avoid gullible people being misled. It appears to have a mismatched hell H1 pair a driving and a fog This mix was common practice at one time but I think the regulators here outlawed the one of each approach requiring them to be a pairs snd of matching type some years before this J suffix car would’ve been delivered. Not to say some didn’t slip through but those exceptions are more often imports that confused the registration system than RHD originals. Not a big deal but thought I’d include a curiosity on what I suppose was a two year old car at time of photo:

I’ve edited out the lady who’s perched on the bonnet in the middle. She was awarded the prettiest girl award at the event so was captured for posterity in the photo. Not edited out because I’m being politically correct just don’t want to distract the gentlemen here with too much 70s miniskirt and thigh.

No Richard, they are not. The 118s for our Porsches don’t have a screw in the trim ring nor are the lenses notched.
