    question re cam timing

    hello--
I have a 69 911t that had some engine mods done over the past 50 years. When I pulled it a part I found I have E pistons and cylinders(with much help form this form) and E cams as from the previous owner. When taking the engine down I checked the cam timing and it was set 2.6mm both sides.

My cam #s 901.105.109.01 and 901.105.110.01. Production dates 16.7.66 and 23.9.66 well before the E engine came out. Porsche spec book calls for 4.2-4.6mm.

There are no markings on the cams that would indicate a regrind. When I called a local cam grinding shop, they said these were E cams.

Question is do I set at 2.6mm or do I go with the book at 4.2-4.6mm? And check the valve to piston clearance.

    Thanks Jake

I would use a degree wheel and with specs from both cam types, plot the opening and closing points and see which timing spec coincides with what you have.
