    Washer pivot vent window

The small washer in the pivot for the vent window of the targa (#900.025.040.02) seems to be no longer available.
Any suggestions on replacement parts? Could you use some VW parts? For the pivot on a VW bus washers are available, they look similar.
I know it is a very thin washer and it does not look like normal metal.

Don't see why not,,its just a washer acting as a spacer. I assume you have hardware stores like we have here. It's amazing what you can find in a well stocked hardware store.

Picture of how the washer should look. On the SMC webshop, it’s called ‘resistex’ as material.

Yes, we have specialist stores for hardware, where I can easliy find M4 washers. But normally.most hardware they have on the shelves is zinc plated steel or stainless steel. Since Porsche did not use a ‘generic’ M4 washer and this is a pivoting point, I was wondering what would be the best alternative. Would a normal steel washer not rust in the long run, making the pivoting hard to do? Or scrape the pivot parts so that these rust after a while? Therefor I was considering other material, but perhaps I am too concerned.

I've had this small catalog for a long time, and this is probably what you need. Looks like it could be one of their PTFE coated fabrics, or just a piece of fiberglass stamped out as a washer. They sell all over the world, check out their web site. Maybe you can contact them and find a local vendor. If you have ever taken apart a Bosch distributor down to the weights, this is the stuff that the weights rest on, allowing them to slide freely as the revolutions increase.
Can you measure the washer and tell us how thick it is?

I do not have an original, only the picture. Inside diameter is 4.3 mm (described as such in the parts catalogue, so this should be correct). Based on the picture, outside diameter should be about 8 mm. About thickness, I guess max 0.5 mm.

OK, it took me a while, but I found the part. Just happened to be packing up a bunch of parts to send with my '66 1300 bug (2.1 L motor) to my daughter who just moved to Atlanta. Just happened to find a small bag from West Coast Metric with 2 rivets and two washers in it. The kit is to replace the rivet and washer after you take apart the vend window to replace the rubber. Same washer. 8.88 mm outside dia, 4.17 inside dia and 1 mm thick.

Thxs. The shim can be found with the #111837637 of Volkswagen, but mostly not availabe. The above kit #111-648 seems to be the same as the #N136612 found in some VW webshops.
