    Door Speaker Holes

    Why? When did 911 doors first come with stamped speaker holes in the doors?
    As far as I know speakers in doors were not factory installed until the G series. Why did they not install door speakers if they had the doors stamped with this in mind? My 73 has them.

    I've also wondered if they actually are for speakers?
    1968 911L Coupe - Golden Green

    Did they change the inside of panel when reinforcement was put in doors for crash reasons. Can’t recall if anything got changed — I need to look again at the door’s around that era.

    Steve, The crash reinforcement is just a stamped beam the length of the door, a bit below the door lock.

    Simon, the speaker holes were the same on my 81 and 91 Turbos, but they came with speakers.

    What was the first year for these stampings?

    I've seen 1965 door shells with these speaker holes, so I'm unaware of any 911/912 doors without them.

    the "speaker" holes are there right from the beginning...not sure if they where intended as such...brobably yes but i would not bet

    those come in very handy when installing the door stop
