As they say "wood is good"! I cannot count the times I have used 6x6 and 4x4 timbers to block up equipment, cars, trucks, etc.
Very cool photo Thank you for posting that! I love the color scheme of the Martini!

Still in use there 1974 think this is the 2.1 RSR turbo possibly the same trestle stand but single with front wheels of car on the ground

PS
From a different view it seems the m491 is actually held aloft at front by a long reach high lift trolley Jack in centre of car (Jack visible behind yellow car on shot below ) — the wooden trestle is not (fully or at all?) supporting weight at front so maybe there in addition. Not sure this is safe working practice however no one appears to be under car — there appears “air” above the wooden trestle at front on the side nearest camera.
Be safe !

I agree. I keep several pieces of different length 4x4 timbers that I have used over the years. Work great for engine/trans drops and installs. I had a 4 post lift for years - was great for storage and it helped with some maintenance items, but the opening between the ramps was too tight for easy engine drops and suspension work also required jacking up on lift (vs 2 post lift not having to do this). I restored my car - half was done on the 4 post lift, and the other half was on the floor using jack stands and 4x4 timber.

I use a Quickjack 7000slx. Works great on my low ceiling garage.
I ise a Direct Lift 4 post. Also have the sliding jack accessory, so I can lift the car on the lift and get the wheels rotated or removed.
Had it for 11 years. No issues. Haven’t even had to tighten anything. I check wear and level once every 6 months.
