Thread: Targa wind noise

    Targa wind noise

Was out driving my 51-year-old Targa yesterday. Finally decided it was time to do something about the subject. Any suggestions on “simple fixes”? I’m thinking just a strip of thin insulation between the top of the windshield and the front of the Targa top. Thoughts?

Do you have a copy of the Targa bulletin by Porsche? I have a PDF somewhere, can dig it up for you. Loads of tips on how to align and adjust the roof.

That being said, my Targa has a pretty good roof alignment and is still noisy as hell, open or closed. It's just what it is I suppose. Good-quality earplugs (for motorbikes) help to remove the wind noise while you can still enjoy the engine.

^^^^ the earplugs may be the best idea! I know I’m spoiled by how quiet my regular car is…

PS - would love to see the Targa bulletin.

How about some pictures? Can you identify where the noise is coming from?
Above 80MPH best to take the top off.
As much as people criticize the Targa, the coupes i've owned are noisy at high speeds too.

It's from 1968, so I don't know how helpful this is for later models.
I can post the contents of the Targa Roof Repairs booklet too.

i have always had good luck with the Targa tops.
mainly because i have always adjusted the Targa frame to the workshop specifications and then performed the rest of the steps shone.
