Thread: I have gone full circle

    I have gone full circle

In 1995 I purchased my first 911 a well preserved highly original but mechanically stuffed 1973 911E.

It was a tourist delivery car driven in Europe for 18 mths then brought into Australia but always built as an Australian Compliance car. Cibies were factory fitted on the guards and wired into the high beam switch. Had full history and books and zero accidents which is why it appealed despite it barely running at the time.

I learn a lot about the early 911 in cleaning and getting the mechanicals rebuilt in that car, then I learnt there was such a thing as an S so sold it for one of those and then I finally learnt there was such a thing as an RS sold sold the S for one of those I also was exposed to this site for the first time way back then and what a find that has turned out to be

After lots of buying and selling over the ensuing 27 years I sold my ST rep last week and re acquired my original 911E. Same owner I sold it to had kept it all that time and done just 11,000 miles since purchasing from me. He had also attended to some minor body work and the car has come back to me in better shape than when I sold it. Still accident free too.

Feels good to have it back in my possession, now if only I can hang on to it for some length of time.

Wee have a big drive planned on some of our great roads next weekend so I think I will awaken it from it's slumber and blow out some cobwebs. It has been well maintained
the entire time so should be no issues.

Pic of a youthful me with my 4 year old son cleaning the 911 in 1995

Then home in the driveway yesterday

and then in the shed with it's twin brother that I am working on.

Lovely story, Clyde. Now you have gone full circle I would love to know which model out of the three you prefer the most. It is easy to keep scaling up with the thought that the next model up will be better but I really like the way my 73 911E drives.

    Happy motoring.

    Kind regards,

    Gitesh
